Welcome to another trip down memory lane. This week, in honor of Adam Wingard’s (The Guest, You’re Next) Blair Witch, we take a look back at The Blair Witch Project. Dalton and Dustin are joined for the first time by Kirsten Therkelson. Kirsten is our very own Frightful Femme and now you can find out the origins of how she joined the family.

We Uncover The Blair Witch Project

Blair Witch Project

The Blair Witch Project is ripe with analysis and the gang bring the heat. Dalton discusses regional horror and how different cultures have stories with exclusive tropes and generic markers. He mentions Cultural Guilt and how many of America’s darkest secrets and most terrible crimes took place in the woods. Kirsten sets up a grudge match between mankind, nature and the supernatural. She breaks down each of these conflicts and discusses how they interact with one another within the narrative. Finally, Dustin brings the segment home with a discourse on the commerce of film. He hones in on the budget and the viral marketing campaign employed to promote the Blair Witch Project. Dustin identifies the current rut Hollywood is in and argues that a film like Blair Witch Project might not come along again for a while.

Following analysis, the gang renders a verdict on The Blair Witch Project. Next, it is time to play the game. This week, the gang talks about “Trips Gone Wrong” in film. Finally, the show goes down in flames as everyone gets “Fired Up in Pop Culture”. This is a wonderful trip back in time so we hope you tune in.
