Another year has come and gone and it’s time for us to take a look back at the year in GoodTrash. That’s right, it’s time for the sixth-annual GoodTrash Shelvie Awards 2018! We thank you for listening for another year. The Shelvies is our chance to unwind and look back only at the movies we watched for the podcast in the previous year—this is not a best movies of 2018 episode, that comes later!

The Sixth-Annual Shelvie Awards 2018

Shelvie Awards 2018

It’s the time of year for Hollywood to get a little indulgent and self-congratulatory, which means award shows! 6 years ago, we kicked things off with a simple segment on Episode #51 with just a few categories, including: the Hebrew Hammer award for worst movie, the Favorite Discovery to highlight a first-time watch and, of course, the best of the best got hoisted to the Platinum Shelf.

For this year’s show, we’ve introduced two new categories—The Hall of Violence and Favorite Marathon. The marathon category is pretty straightforward, but The Hall of Violence is a play on Demolition Man. This category celebrates standout set pieces and moments of violence in the movies we’ve watched.

So, what were our favorite discoveries? Which movies landed in a new light? What were the one-time-only watches? And which films join the platinum shelf? Tune in and find out!
