In the Air with Red Tails

George Lucas attempted to bring the story of the Tuskegee Air Men to the big screen for more than 20 years.

In 2012, LucasFilm finally made it happen with Anthony Hemingway at the helm. The last film from the company before the House of Mouse acquisition, Red Tails is a historical war film in classic Lucas style.

Boasting a who’s who of Black actors, the film focuses on a select group of pilots who come to be known as Red Tails. A group of men devoted to proving their worth and value in the war effort despite the rampant racism trying to hold them back.

This week, we discuss war movies and race, the advancement of technology as an act of patriotism and propaganda, air planes, and much, much more!
