Accepting The Invitation

Karyn Kusama’s 2015 follow up to Aeon Flux and Jennifer’s Body is a starkly different film. Moving away from the tongue-in-cheek teen horror style to a brooding, intimate grief study, Kusama looks to master a different style. With a small cast of largely unknowns anchored by a key performance from Logan Marshall-Green, The Invitation looks to unsettle viewers before pulling the rug out. But, is it worth a watch? We talk about all of that before getting into analysis.

This week, we talk a lot about blocking and production design in relation to creating tension. We also talk social stressors, anxiety, grief and trauma, the dangers of proselytizing, and much, much more. So come, sit with us as we talk to you about the impact The Invitation could have on you.
