Shocktober 7 rolls right along as we move to Dalton’s pick, Green Room. We trade ghosts and ghouls for real life horrors in this ultraviolent action thriller from Jeremy Saulnier.

Enter the Green Room

Following up his indie hit, Blue Ruin, Saulnier received more resources for Green Room. The biggest being Patrick Stewart and Anton Yelchin. Utilizing a troupe of powerful performers, Saulnier sticks them all in a small building to find out what lengths people will go to to survive. The narrative is simple. A group of punk rockers witness a murder at the hands of a neo-nazi group. Will the group let them go? Or will they have to find a way out?

In this episode, we discuss Saulnier’s use of violence. The topic of punk culture and the other subcultures that operate at similar frequencies comes up. Finally, we talk about the on-the-nose discussion of nazis in modern America. But, before we dive into the film’s meaning. We play a game. This week, the game is a look at our favorite film musicians.
