This month is dedicated entirely to the Godfather of Goodtrash, Dustin himself. He’s hitting a milestone birthday, so we’re honoring him the best way we know how, movies he loves. This first entry was picked for him because of how often he’s talked about it in the past. The next three weeks will be decided by Pops, and Pops alone.

Time Stamps:

04:31 – Quick The Number 23 Reviews

17:01 – Expanding the Syllabus

31:23 – Analysis

1:06:33 – Shelf or Trash

1:07:17 – Wrap up and Next Week’s Film

Unraveling the Secrets of The Number 23

For years, Dustin has talked about The Number 23 with great fondness. I (Arthur) always looked for a spot to drop it in our lineup, but it never quite shook out the way I’d hoped. So, when we decided to honor Dustin all through November, I knew we had to start off with this one.

This pulpy noir thriller from Joel Schumacher features Jim Carrey falling down the rabbit hole. He is gifted a book that is eerily familiar. As he obsessively looks for connections, his real life and fantasy collide in a life-altering finale.

This week, we’re talking mental health, Joel Schumacher, spiritual catharsis in storytelling, and much, much more.

Tune in now as we start our month long celebration of Dustin!
