Welcome back to another edition of the GoodTrash GenreCast. 2018 is rolling along and we’re filling in some blindspots from the year. To help round out his list, Arthur decided to go with the soon-to-be cult classic, Mandy.
Avenging Mandy
Panos Cosmatos’ followup to Beyond the Black Rainbow, is an acid-fueled nightmare trip… literally. Red (Nic Cage) goes after the cult who abducted his love, Mandy (Andrea Riseborough). His quest takes him on a blood-soaked, chainsaw wielding trip through the Shadow Mountains.
Cosmatos’ film has set itself up to become an instant classic for midnight screenings. To help us kick things off, we’re joined by our very own Frightful Femme, Kirsten Therkelson. We discuss the film’s use of inter-titles, the freezer trope, cults and much more. To kick the discussion of though, we run down our favorite revenge seekers.
