This week on the Praisedown we are joined by their long-awaited third co-host Adam Thornbrugh! The boys have a lot of catching up to do, so join us as we traverse the following conversation topics:

    • How are we gonna get Alex out of Hell?
    • Is Jesus like Frankenstein?
    • Can we make the sequel to Venom more friendly to Christian audiences?

Did you survive? Then go forth and be rewarded with our discussion of Christian Emo band Further Seems Forever and their 2001 LP, The Moon is Down!

Further Seems Forever is Spiritual/Introspective, but so is Emo writ Large

Further Seems Forever is the first iteration of songwriter and frontman Chris Carrabba for many of his fans. The band itself features a lo-fi, post-hardcore sound that hit me with waves of nostalgia during my listen. The Moon is Down was released in 2001 by Tooth & Nail, and was the only LP Carrabba was with the band to record before focusing on Dashboard Confessional full-time.

The fuzzy sound and raw emotions Further Seems Forever puts out did make me feel a certain way, but did it…connect me to something? The short answer is yes, the long answer is nothing particularly exclusive to the rest of the emo genre. The Moon is Down is a good emo record and generally a sad, fun time, but I hesitate to call it a stand-out Christian record.
