Our Road to 300 continues with another landmark episode. On episode 38, TV Pilots, Caleb Masters made his first appearance as a guest host, running with the crew for nearly 20 appearances. When Caleb announced he would soon be moving off to see the country, we decided to let him have a host pick. Of course, Caleb chose one of the, if not the, greatest actions movies of all time—T2 Judgment Day.

T2 Judgment Day

It seems fitting that with James Cameron taking the Episode 300 spot, that we would flashback to Caleb’s early days with another Cameron pick. Caleb joined the show early on, and was always eager to help the crew go to the next level. In those early days, he was cutting his teeth, but he still made sure to help us find and advance our own technology.

While we never got to T-800 levels of tech, we did start looking to upgrade equipment. Caleb would bring his Yeti mic, and we slowly progressed to a more polished sound from there. If the podcast content is good, but un-listenable, is it even a podcast?

T2 Judgment Day struck everyone. It’s amazing how well it holds up. But, that’s Cameron’s mark as a filmmaker. He spends a lot of time on doing the job right, and T2 Judgement Day is one of his great contributions to cinema.

So, Caleb chose wisely.

Masters hung around for a few more episodes before finally riding off into the sunset, but much like Arnie, he’d be back. He returned on our Mad Max: Fury Road episode, just over 100 episodes after his very first appearance. When he returned, he was older and wiser, and he helped GoodTrash Media find its footing. Caleb helped us take our web presence and studio equipment to the next level.

But this episode takes place before all of those wonderful sound upgrades, so bear with it.

Now grab your chaps and your hogs, we’re about to get bad to the bone.
